Spider Vein Treatment
Spider veins of the legs can be safely and effectively treated with sclerotherapy, whereby a solution is injected directly into unwanted vessels causing them to gradually fade. Sclerotherapy remains the gold standard for leg vein treatment. In cases with very small caliber vessels that cannot be injected, laser procedures may yield some improvement, although this is less consistently successful than sclerotherapy. Both procedures are best performed during fall/winter months, when temporary discoloration and support hosiery can be covered by clothing. Dr. Eric Treiber has a particular interest and expertise in sclerotherapy for superficial spider veins. Dr. Ruth Treiber performs laser treatments (preceded by test spot treatments) when appropriate.
